Region overview

Issyk-Kul Region is the most visited tourist destination in Kyrgyzstan and home to the famous Issyk-Kul Lake, one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the world. Surrounded by the Kungey Ala-Too and Terskey Ala-Too mountain ranges, the region offers a unique mix of beaches, canyons, waterfalls, hot springs, alpine lakes, and scenic mountain valleys. It is home to the cities of Karakol, Cholpon-Ata, and Balykchy, as well as famous natural attractions such as Jeti-Oguz, Altyn-Arashan, Semenov Gorge, and Grigoriev Gorge. In summer, visitors come for beach holidays and hiking, while winter attracts skiers to the Karakol Ski Resort and travelers seeking relaxation at the Ak-Suu hot springs.
